Blogging @ your library

Every day 100,000 new blogs are created and 1.3 million posts are made, according to the quarterly State of the Blogosphere report by blog tracking firm Technorati. Technorati is currently tracking more than 57 million blogs, and about 55% of all blogs are active, which means that they have been updated at least once in the last 3 months. Libraries across the globe are using blogs to promote their services and engage their patrons in discussions about their library programs. Want to learn more about blogging in libraries? Check out BlogBib, an annotated bibliography on Weblogs and blogging with a focus on library and librarian blogs. And at the Blogging Libraries Wiki, you will find a collection of links to library blogs of all types – academic, school, public, special, library association and library director. Here in Nebraska, the Panhandle Library System and the Republican Valley Library System have started blogs. Does your library have a blog? If you do, click on the Comments link just below this post and share your blog with us!

I have created a blog called Focus On Online for the Criss Library as the University of Nebraska at Omaha. The purpose of the blog “is to share news about resource additions, enhancements, access issues, and other information related to online resources and/or services.” Please check out the blog at http://focusononline.blogspot.com and let me know what you think.
