#BookFaceFriday “Dead Water” by Ann Cleeves
This #BookFaceFriday is on the rocks!
Ah dinnae ken why you’re not reading this #BookFaceFriday! “Dead Water: A Shetland Mystery” by Ann Cleeves (Minotaur Books, 2014) is part of an excellent detective series set in the Shetland Islands of Scotland. Dead Water is book five in her Shetland Island Mystery series and has been turned into a popular BBC series. We have several of Cleeves’ titles on Nebraska OverDrive Libraries, including all 8 books in the Shetland Island Mystery series!
“Cleeves has an unusually deft hand with characters; not one of them seems purely plot functional, and Perez’s character keeps deepening with each book. The rough islands cresting the Atlantic fit the bleakness of the murders depicted here. This series is one of two that Cleeves has going; the other stars Northumberland detective Vera Stanhope and is a hit BBC series.”

#BookFaceFriday “The Rachel Incident” by Caroline O’Donoghue
Don’t turn your back on #BookFaceFriday!
Life (and love) can get complicated, but finding your next great read on Nebraska Overdrive Libraries doesn’t have to be! Find all the new book in our “Latest 500 titles added” collection. One of the titles is “The Rachel Incident” by Caroline O’Donoghue (Diversified Publishing, 2023.) This funny novel about friendship and love in Ireland is available as both an eBook and an Audiobook.
“A college student gets caught in the middle of a friend’s romance in this delightful Irish novel…. This deliciously complex set of entanglements lays the groundwork for the novel… and bring to mind the gossipy 19th-century novels Dr. Byrne might teach in class. But its true joys lie in the tremendously witty characters and their relationships: The real love story of this novel is not between James and Dr. Byrne, or Rachel and her own paramour, but between Rachel and James, whose codependent glee in each other’s company will remind many readers of their own college friendships, especially those between women and queer men…. Sensational.”

#BookFaceFriday “Dear Librarian” by Lydia M. Sigwarth
SHHHH, this is a #BookFaceFriday!
Summer reading is in full swing all over Nebraska! So this week’s #BookFaceFriday is both a shout out to all those amazing librarians that put tons of work into Summer Reading Programs, but also that we have book lists for all ages on Nebraska OverDrive Libraries. “All Together Now: Summer Reading Program 2023” is a specially curated collection great titles that would be perfect picks for Summer Reading. Just like “Dear Librarian” written by Lydia M. Sigwarth and illustrated by Romina Galotta ( Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2021.) It’s a perfect reminder of everything a library has to offer. It’s available for checkout as an audiobook from Nebraska Overdrive Libraries.
“Galotta uses an array of media, including watercolors and colored pencils, to lovingly reflect the heroine’s inner emotions and thoughts in the details and background on each page . . . This touching story celebrates the joys of friendship, finding a home, and the power of libraries.”

Didn’t remember to put in your request before this popular title was reserved by another group? Check out these similar titles on our read-alike suggestion page. We’ve taken the work out of finding other books to tide you over until your first choice is available, or just to help you find that next great selection.
