Throwback Thursday: Music Room at Union College
Tune in to this #ThrowbackThursday!
Two grand pianos sit in a classroom in this week’s highlight, a 5-1/2″ x 3-1/4″ black and white photograph from Union College taken around 1911 – 1912. Each piano has sheet music on its music rack. One piano has a wooden chair in front of it, while the other has a wooden stool; both the chair and the stool have rugs under them. There is a wooden desk against one of the walls, with a bust and a framed picture on it. Another bust can be seen between the pianos. A chalkboard hangs on one of the walls, and there are framed pictures of composers on the walls as well. Bare light bulbs hang from the ceiling. The music classroom was located in the administration building.

Throwback Thursday: Union College Bookstore
Grab a new book this #ThrowbackThursday!
This week’s highlight is six black and white photographs of a bookstore in Union College. Textbooks fill the shelves along a wall, while other school supplies are displayed in a glass cabinet in front of the bookshelves, in this 5-1/2″ x 3-1/4″ black and white photograph. A box on top of the glass cabinet reads: “Sanford’s Blue Black Fountain Pen Ink, The Most Satisfactory”.

Throwback Thursday: Students at Union College
This week’s #ThrowbackThursday is hitting the books!
This week, we have a 5-1/2″ x 3-1/4″ black and white photograph of Union College students studying in the library. The library was housed in the administration building from 1891 until a library building was built in 1936.
This early 1900s images is published and owned by the Ella Johnson Crandall Memorial Library at Union College. The library at Union College is home to an archival collection of books, periodicals, audiovisual materials, photographs, artifacts, and manuscript collections related to the history of Union College and the College View community. The photographs selected for inclusion in Nebraska Memories include early scenes of the Union College campus and downtown College View.

Throwback Thursday: Lincoln Traction Company Streetcar
It’s another #ThrowbackThursday from Nebraska Memories!
This week’s #throwback features a Lincoln Traction Company streetcar. Streetcars ran between Lincoln and College View from August 1891 until fall of 1945 when they were replaced with buses.
