Training in your neighborhood

Many of you have noticed that I’m starting to schedule a lot of workshops around technologies such as blogging, RSS, and podcasting. In the future, you’ll see more on other topics such as Second Life, Web design, and Internet searching. In response many have sent in the the following question: “will you be offering your workshops in my area?” The simple answer is yes, I will be offering workshops in your area but I can’t necessarily tell you when. Here’s why. In the case of a new workshop, I’ll generally offer it here at the commission first because I have full control over the lab and can minimize potential computer problems that may happen with new material. Once the kinks have been worked out, then the workshop can be easily taken on the road. As for existing workshops, it’s a simple question of scheduling. First, I need to be available. I’m consistently asked to speak on specific topics at particular times on particular dates. These fill in my schedule quickly. Once I have found free time, I then need to find a location with the equipment I need at the time I need it. When all of that comes together I also need to be sure that these dates don’t conflict with other significant events such as regional and state-wide conferences. Scheduling opposite those would reduce the number of people who could attend and risk the workshop being canceled. Please let us know when you’re interested in topics being presented in your area, especially if you have a computer lab and are interested in hosting workshops. Just rest assured, we’ll get our your way just as soon as we can.

    Hello,
I work in the Kearney School District. We could GREATLY benefit from the classes you are teaching. I have a lab of mac computers that I would help you set up for a class on blogging, RSS or podcasting.
How many people in class make your time worthwhile? What is the cost? What kind of time frame do you need?
Let’s start talking about this and see what comes together. Thanks. Connie
